Katie Pace Counseling and Consulting — Therapy in Colorado Springs, CO

About

Listening. Supporting. Guiding.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, relationships are what I love to help you figure out. Whether it's your relationship with yourself, a partner, a child, or maybe your relationship with a “thing” (alcohol, shopping, work), I'm here to support you as you get to the root of it and find a healthy, self-advocating way to address the issue — so you can move forward to the life you want and deserve.

I believe my combination of education, training, and lived experience allows me to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to share and explore the areas of your life causing distress. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about my approach so that you feel comfortable beginning therapy.

My philosophy

I don't believe anyone is broken. The habits and patterns that bring people to therapy — anxiety, distance, drinking, people-pleasing — almost always started as ways of coping with something real. You are the expert on your own life; my job is to help you understand what a pattern has been protecting you from, and to find a healthier, self-advocating way to meet that need so you can move forward.

What working together looks like

Our first sessions are simply about getting comfortable. I'll ask questions, listen closely, and start to understand your story — you set the pace, and you never have to share more than you're ready to. From there, expect me to be warm but honest: I'll gently name the patterns I see, and we'll decide together what to do about them.

Some weeks we'll go deep into where things started; other weeks we'll stay practical and build skills you can use right away. Whether we meet in my downtown Colorado Springs office or by video, the work — and the relationship — is the same.

Outside the office

I am a die-hard Arizona Wildcats fan and mom to four young adult “kids” who does her best to follow her own advice about staying hydrated, getting fresh air, and leaning on my support system when I need it.

How I can help

I work with individuals and couples. Hover over any concern — or tap on a phone — to see how we'd work through it together.

Anxiety

Your mind won't slow down, and even good days come with a low hum of worry.

Together we'll find where the anxiety is really coming from and build practical tools to quiet it — so you can be present again instead of always bracing for what's next.

  • Social Anxiety
  • Coping Skills

Depression & Self-Esteem

Everything takes more effort than it should, and no matter what you accomplish, that inner voice insists it isn't enough.

We'll move at your pace to reconnect you with energy and meaning, and gently challenge the story you've been told about your worth — no shame, no rushing, just steady steps back toward yourself.

Trauma

Something from your past still shows up in your present — in your body, your reactions, your relationships.

In a safe, paced way, we'll help those old wounds loosen their grip so they no longer run the show. You don't have to carry it alone anymore.

  • Attachment Issues

Relationships & Couples

You love each other, but you keep landing in the same painful argument and don't know how to stop.

As a marriage and family therapist, I'll help you both feel heard, slow down the cycles you're stuck in, and rebuild the connection underneath the conflict.

  • Communication Issues
  • Infidelity
  • Marital & Premarital
  • Blended Families
  • Parenting

Addiction & Substance Use

What started as a way to cope — with alcohol, a substance, a habit — has started to run the show.

Without judgment, we'll get to the root of what the habit has been protecting you from and find healthier ways to meet that need, so you can take back control.

  • Alcohol Use
  • Substance Use

Grief & Life Transitions

You've lost someone or something that mattered — a person, a marriage, a chapter — and the ground underneath you has shifted.

There's no right timeline for this. I'll walk alongside you as you carry it, make sense of it, and find your footing in whatever comes next — so change becomes something you shape rather than something that happens to you.

  • Divorce
  • College Mental Health

Not sure if what you're carrying fits a category? It doesn't have to. Reach out and we'll figure it out together.
